Where is CI Walking based?
We’re an Australian business, based on Christmas Island and NSW. All our guides are Australian with extensive experience on both island groups. We also utilise the services of several local islanders during your time on the islands.
How much does the airfare cost to get to Christmas Island to start the tour?
Nothing, all airfares are included in the tour price.
Airfare 1 – Perth to Christmas Island (2300km)
Airfare 2 – Christmas Island to Cocos-keeling Islands (900km)
Airfare 3 - Cocos-keeling to Perth
Are the walks difficult?
The walks are Easy to Moderate. Harder/longer walks are easily organised. As each group varies and individuals within groups differ in their abilities, we are easily able to customise walks to groups and individuals.

What size are the groups?
Each group varies but the maximum we take on each tour is 12.
Are there any tropical diseases?
No, the island is free of Malaria and other tropical diseases. No jabs are required.

Are there any dangerous bities on the island?
There are no dangerous snakes or spiders on either island. There are no leeches or ticks……just lots of crabs.
How heavy do our packs need to be?
There is no over night camping or huts on the islands as yet. You will be driven to the starting point of just about all the walks and picked up at the end. Our vehicles will have water, so you will only need to carry a small day pack with essential provisions for the walk.

Will there be spare time to do other activities?
None of the walks are compulsory. While you are on the islands there will be plenty of time to do your own thing. Scuba diving, golf, fishing, private walks etc can all be organised.
What will the weather be like?
It will be warm to hot on both islands. Christmas is further north and therefore slightly more humid than Cocos. Both tours are during relatively dry periods of the year and the water is warm all year round.

What is the accommodation like?
On Cocos our accommodation is absolute beach front. On Christmas Island our accommodation is either ocean front or across the road from the ocean. Both hotels/motels are good standard.
What is the food like on the island?
We self cater for breakfast on Christmas Island. Evening meals range from BBQs, to typical Australian a’la carte menus. There are a couple of Asian restaurants on both islands which serve excellent food. On Cocos there is a restaurant at our accommodation, which is open for Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Do you tailor holidays?
Yes, in the past we have taken private groups to the island. We can arrange a trip at just about any time of the year that suits your group. We also have some great deals available for walking clubs or groups of friends that wish to visit the island.

Where do we meet our guides?
Our guides will either meet you at the airport at Christmas Island on arrival or travel up to the islands with you from Perth.
Can I go with my family and my children?
Yes, the youngest person we have had on one of our Christmas/Cocos tours was 11 years old and he handled the walks and other activities easily.
Are there any cultural interests on the islands?
Both islands have significant cultural history.
